Volunteers
From Kelly, one of our mentors —
"How do you convince someone how amazing they are? This is by far the hardest part of being a mentor at New Foundations. Everyone I have met is unique and wonderful, but rarely do they realize this. Becoming a mentor at New Foundations is unlike any other volunteering I have ever done. Listening to what is going on in my mentee’s life, to their concerns about the future, or just listening to the music at the coffee shop with them is much more rewarding than I ever thought it could be. I get to be the person they open up to. Sometimes I point out the silver lining and sometimes I just let them vent. The hardest part for me is leaving at the end of a visit and not taking them with me!"
